Caravan & RV Servicing

Just like our cars, all caravans need regular maintenance for trouble free touring, your safety and to maintain your warranty.

Axle manufacturers recommend at least a caravan or RV axle, brake and bearing service every 10,000km or 12 months – whichever occurs first.  Even more frequently if you have had your vehicle subject to driving in extreme dust, dirty or wet conditions. Especially if you have been doing any water crossings.

If you’ve purchased a second-hand caravan, it’s best to book it in for a service before you take it away.

Premium RV Repairs offers a complete caravan service including a written report, PLUS, if your service requires standard parts, we can usually service your caravan the same day.

Annual Checks

Caravan Electric brake assembly is usually connected via a pair of wires connecting to the trailer plug. It is vital that these connections are checked to be sound. Brake linings and brake magnets need to be inspected and changed as warranted.

The jockey wheel bearing transfer the caravan’s weight as you wind it. When this is stripped back during servicing, we often find that the plastic case has split, this means it must be replaced to prevent any bearings getting lodged in the jockey shaft and causing it to jam.

Caravan Wheel bearings carry a far greater load than a car or truck because carry a larger load and are often left sitting idle bearing that load. It’s critical that they be given a thorough inspection and checked for any defects.
